HEY! I'M RAHMAN

I am a multidisciplinary creator and technologist who bridges the worlds of art, design, and innovation. As the Director of Art & Creative Strategy for Rooted Threads, I lead the vision behind the Cultivate Collection—a line that honors agrarian life, ancestral resilience, and the power of connection through quilt-style and appliqué storytelling.

With a professional foundation in IT systems, coding, and product engineering, I bring a rare blend of technical precision and artistic imagination to my work. I have served as an IT Manager, Microsoft 365 Administrator, and Product Engineering Apprentice, with expertise in software development, systems administration, and technical instruction. I have also worked as an Art teacher for K–5 students, sparking creativity and confidence in the classroom.

My passions extend beyond teaching and technology. I am deeply inspired by agriculture, gardening, and sustainable growing systems—including building DIY small-space hydroponics, designing aeroponics systems, and experimenting with vermicomposting. That same curiosity and love of cultivation is what gives life to the Rooted Threads Cultivate Collection, where fabric and story are planted like seeds of legacy.

This collection is also inspired by the photos we took while in Ghana in 2023. Those memories and images continue to fuel my creativity, with some transformed into designs, patterns, and storytelling pieces that anchor the collection.

Rooted Threads is a family endeavor I co-lead with my wife Rashidah and our daughters, Imani Grace Jones and Asha Sophia Jones. Together we create pieces that are not just wearable but purposeful. Proceeds from the Cultivate Collection support youth agricultural education and food-literacy initiatives, extending my belief that creativity should nourish both community and culture.
